Things in Themselves: Volcanic Remnants (St. Lucia, March 2024)

Inanimate objects give themselves over to consciousness; without such objects, our thoughts would be empty. Without these rocks, this bed of sand, these clumps of seaweed, these gentle lapping waters … without these volcanic remnants and their habitat (their home), which I was grateful to have visited … I would’ve been left with no-thing to contemplate on the day of my visit or, for that matter, just now, at this moment.
